Einige Kilometer östlich von Stovepipe Wells im Death Valley Nationalpark befinden sich die Mesquide Flad Sand Dünen. Eine Schotterstraße führt zu dem ca. 36 qkm großen und gelben Sandteppich. Besonders bei Sonnenuntergang, wenn die Dünen von der untergehenden Sonne beleuchtet werden, sind sie ein begehrtes Fotomotiv. Diese Sanddünen waren unter anderem auch der Drehort von Star Wars.
