Letná Park (Prague, Czech Republic)

Letna Park is located along the embankment of the Vltava River and covers an area of 25ha. Established in the mid 19th-century under the guidance of Bedřich Wünschera and Jiřího Braula, the park offers views of the Staré Město (Old Town) and also houses the oldest functional European carousel in a carved wooden pavilion. The Neo-Baroque “Hanavský pavilon” dates from 1891 and, since being relocated to Letna Park in 1898, it serves as a restaurant with 30 covers inside and 60 on the terrace. Opening hours are from 11h00 to 01h00 daily. The Stalin Monument, which was unveiled in 1955, was demolished in 1962 and its base now serves as a picnic area as well as a plinth for the Metronome which was erected in 1991.
