Dancer (Warsaw, Poland)

The ‘Dancer’ statue is situated in a rose garden within the grounds of Park Skaryszewski on Aleja Zieleniecka in the Praga district of Warsaw. Created by Stanislaw Jackowski, an artist who was born in Warsaw, educated in Krakow and a life long member of the Society of Sculpture. Originally the statue was kept in Paris until it was unveiled in 1926 in Warsaw. The bronze statue has been designed in an Art-Nouveau style, mounted on a solid circle of bronze and then placed on a marble oblong plinth. The statue expresses dance and free flowing movement. The statue can easily be located by looking at the maps and legend of the park which are situated throughout. There is one at the main entrance and at the beginning of every avenue in the park.
