Cristo Redentor (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)

Christ the Redeemer is the monument that can be seen situated on top of Corcovado hill which is 710 metres in height. It can be viewed from many locations in the city of Rio de Janeiro. The statue is 38 metres in height and weighs 1,145 tons. The monument was inaugurated on October 12th 1931. Elevators and escalators take visitors to the statues base. It is possible to take a small train through Tijuca Forest to the area where the elevators and lifts are located. Access is also possible by car and on foot. The Train departs at every half-hour from 8:30 AM to 20:00 PM.
