Set in the centre of the sleepy village of Tongue this laid-back hotel in a 19th-century stone lodge is 2 miles from the Kyle of Tongue, a minute's walk from the ruins of Castle Varrich and 7 miles from the peak of Ben Loyal. A former Victorian sporting lodge, the Tongue Hotel is now a homely, characterful place, with cosy tweeds and tartan fabrics, individually styled bedrooms retaining original features such as marble sinks, fireplaces and Victorian furniture, The classic rooms feature free Wi-Fi, TVs, and tea and coffee making facilities, some have castle and mountain views.
