Hotel Royal (Milan, Italy)

The Royal Hotel Milano may be strictly no-frills, but you should find it at least to be clean. Many guests vouch that it is cleaned regularly to a good level.

Although some guests find the level of English of some of the staff not very good, they are generally seen as friendly and helpful. They sort problems out effectively and help guests find their way around Milan.

Guests realise that the hotel is not right in the centre, but are happy to find that they can get around Milan easily. There is a good bus service to and from the hotel taking you to the central railway station and the main sites.

A major problem with the hotel seems to be the lack of soundproofing. This is particularly a problem for the rooms nearest to the reception. Guests can hear other guests talking to the staff in the reception and even the sound of the staff watching TV until late. Many also can hear the other rooms quite clearly.

Finding the hotel can be a bit of a challenge. It's not really that the area is difficult to locate, it is rather that the hotel itself as it has no sign! What makes it even more confusing is that other hotels share the same building and one of them has a sign!

The general consensus seems to be that the hotel is far from being fit for royalty. Many believe a two-star rating would be a bit much, let alone the three that it has. A lot think that it is little more than a hostel. However, some guests feel that if you forget the star rating and compare the value to a hostel it not that bad.
