Hotel Royal Exhibition (Sydney, Australia)

Practically the hotel is close to the central train station and number of reviews focused on this proximity as being the highlight of their stay as it was very convenient to get around Sydney.

Some guests commented that for the price paid for the room that it provided a reasonable level of amenity and they were happy with the value that it added to their trip.  In particular, the double glazed windows which blocked out the majority of the street noise were appreciated.

The staff at the hotel were positively reviewed by previous guests. Some guests even met the owners of the property who it seems were very friendly and knowledgeable about the Sydney.

Some guests stayed during a time that minor renovations were being undertaken by the hotel, with some reporting strong paint smells which negatively impacted their stay.  Some guests welcomed the renovation but suggested that work extended to fixing broken appliances, fixtures and fittings which they encountered during their stay.

A number of guests mentioned the perplexing process to check-in to the hotel which is not in a usual reception or lobby area but through a door in the public bar.  Some guests who needed to check-in during non-standard hours also left negative reviews as they found it difficult and a hassle to be ushered through to the bar.

Some rooms have air-conditioning and some do not in this hotel. Guests who found themselves in a non-air conditioned room were not at all impressed as they could not get comfortable in the heat of the Australian summer.
