The Riad La Porte Rouge is a small, traditionally inspired hotel with an interior courtyard, rooftop terrace and interior pool. The seven guest rooms feature romantic traditional Moroccan décor with wall-inset lighting and rich fabric wall hangings and carpets. The en-suite bathrooms include bathrobes, a hairdryer and toiletries. The hotel front desk is open twenty-four hours where one can make use of the safety deposit box and inquire about the other available services such as laundry, tours and currency exchange. The Riad La Porte Rouge also features free Wi-Fi in all areas and a gift shop. A Moroccan breakfast is included in the room charge at the restaurant which also serves traditional dinners on request. The Riad is charming and quite magical in its nature, and this is added to by the mere fact that with just seven rooms there is opportunity for individual attention from staff. Wake-up calls, packed lunches, catering to dietary requirements and even the resident cat all add to this familiarity.
Although there is much to see in and around Marrakech, visits to the Atlas Mountains, nearby waterfalls and dune buggy or camel-ride excursions to the surrounding desert can all be arranged at the front desk.

While being close to the Medina, the Riad is not quite in the thick of the most busy and interesting parts so if you are hoping to have this right at your doorstep, you may be disappointed. Riad La Porte Rouge is however an oasis fifteen or twenty minutes away on foot to the main square with alternatives such as the hotel shuttle or tuk-tuks to get you there faster.
The bedrooms can accommodate only one extra bed/sofa-bed, making it a maximum of three people that can be accommodated at one time per room. While this set-up works well for individuals and pairs or couples, families with young children or larger groups who would prefer to stay together will not have much luck.
