About Q Station Sydney Harbour National Park

Situated in the unique and spectacular location of the Sydney Harbour National Park, the Q Station is one of Sydney’s most unusual and rewarding hotels. Q Station Hotel’s amazing location is ideal for guests interested in snorkelling, kayaking and hiking. There are several restaurants and bars on-site. The Boilerhouse Restaurant offers contemporary Australian cuisine focusing on fresh local ingredients, while the Views Restaurant offers buffet breakfast with great harbour views. Aside from the activities in the National Park, many guests spend time at Manly Beach, about 1.5 miles from the hotel. Circular Quay is 10.5 miles away by car, and is also reachable by nearby ferry.

Positive Reviews

positive:

Amazing and unique location

Considering its very unique location, this was by far the most commented feature of Q Station, and they were almost all positive. Guests love the peace and quite that comes with staying in a National Park. But they do not feel they are too far from Manly, which is accessible by a short shuttle bus ride.

positive:

Terrific sense of history

For many Australian visitors, especially, the buildings evoke a great sense of history. They date from the 1800's, and were used as Sydney's main quarantine facility during a period of mass immigration to Australia. Many guests speak about feeling the history of the site in their bones.

positive:

Very efficient shuttle system

Even the minority of guests who did not completely enjoy their stay here, comment that the shuttle bus system, used to transport guests around the sprawling grounds, was always efficient and on-hand. Guests just needed to call reception and a bus would be sent to pick them up.

Negative Reviews

negative:

Some rooms have outside bathrooms

While each room does have its own private bathroom, for some these are located in a group down the hall, rather than attached to the room. Many guests found this quaint, or were unfazed by it, but a sizable minority did not like it at all.

negative:

No in-room air conditioning

Perhaps it's due to the heritage nature of the buildings, but the fact is that the rooms do not have air conditioning, only ceiling fans. While the fans were certainly welcomed, most guests felt like they were inadequate to deal with Sydney's extreme heat.

negative:

Rooms a little too scruffy

Though not a significant issue, several guests mention that their rooms were just a little too scruffy to justify the hotel's star rating. Things like stained carpets, and scuffed furniture were mentioned.
