Situated right on the Caribbean coast the Platinum Yucatan Princess All Sites Hotel offers guests the very highest level of luxury with sea views that go on forever. All the rooms are spacious suites with separate seating areas. They are tastefully modern, and feature air conditioning, minibars, flat screen TV’s with satellite channels, tea/coffee stations, iPod docks, in-room safes, work desks and private balconies. There are numerous pool terraces to relax on, as well as the unique Casa Club, an area set among virgin Caribbean vegetation. There is also an extensive spa area with sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi and a whole range of treatments available. There are five all-inclusive restaurants serving cuisines from Italian to Japanese in exquisite surroundings, and a more exclusive a la carte restaurant as well. There are also a number of bars, from the informal pool bar to the more sophisticated options inside. Cancun Airport is 31 miles to the north.
The general design and ambiance of the resort seems to be what most impressed guests about the resort hotel. They described it as very chic and modern, and it left them in no doubt that they were in a top resort that had put a lot of thought into every little detail.
Guests mentioned that there was actually an enormous amount to do just on the property itself, let alone in the surrounding areas. Those who were unfamiliar with the local area, and with travel to Mexico in general, were relieved that they didn't feel forced to make excursions outside the resort.
Guests couldn't say enough good things about the staff, describing the as friendly and always willing to help them out with a request for information or service.
While guests certainly did appreciate all the facilities available at the resort, some also wanted to go offsite and see a bit more of Playa del Carman. Unfortunately the resort was some way from the centre of the city, and required a bit of a taxi ride to get into.
A number of guests thought the beach in front of the resort was not very good at all. It was described as being very rocky, and not at all like the sort of tropical dream beach of their fantasies.
This was by no means a unanimous feeling. Guests seemed to have very strong opinions concerning the food, either really loving it, or stating that it was sub-standard. The balance of opinion is difficult to gauge, but potential visitors should know that there were a significant number of people quite dissatisfied with the food.
