If guests do not wish to self-cater, there are number of restaurants nearby in the popular James street precinct, Chinatown or in the Emporium complex to try. The Brisbane International and Domestic Airport are a 20 minute drive from the hotel and Brisbane’s Southbank and cultural precinct is a 10 minute drive or 45 minute walk from the Oaks Mews .
The hotel is ideally located for those visiting an event at the show-grounds (such as the Ekka) as it is just a short walk to the grounds from the hotel. Many people also commented that they stayed here because of the hotels' proximity to the Royal Brisbane Hospital and these people commented that it was in a very convenient location.
The staff at the hotel were described as being very helpful and friendly by guests who also remarked that they were very quick to help to find a taxi or share their local knowledge of the area.

A common bug-bear for reviewers was that whilst the entertainment precinct in Fortitude Valley was close by, there was not really any restaurants and cafes in the immediate vicinity that could easily be reached on foot.
