The staff are friendly and welcoming. Free maps of the local area are provided and staff are ready to assist with directions and make recommendations for local areas to eat and visit.

The local area has a lively social scene and offers plenty of cafes, restaurants, art galleries, bars and music venues to explore. Two metro stations are within walking distance and downtown Manhattan is 15-minutes away.

The hostel has been described as clean, comfortable and spacious. A common area as well as a courtyard is available with complimentary tea and coffee for those who wish to meet other guests in a social atmosphere. The communal kitchen is also convenient if you wish to prepare simple meals.

The the rooms, bathrooms and common areas including the kitchen are not always cleaned to a high standard. The couches are stained and the rooms need a more thorough clean on a daily basis. Some guests found mice and mice droppings in the kitchen and in the dorm rooms.

While some have described the neighborhood as trendy, others have described as an industrial area which does not have a lot to offer, particularly if you are interested in visiting the main tourist sites. To see the main sites, travel by public transport is necessary.

Sharing a rooms with strangers can be a mixed experience and getting a good nights' sleep is not always guaranteed. Some guests were disturbed by the comings and going of other guests. Not all guests experienced the beds as comfortable, as some mattresses were too hard while others were soft and sagging.
