Lumley Castle offers a wonderful atmosphere. It feels a little like stepping back in time, being able to stay in a 14th Century castle and to stroll around its lovely courtyard garden. The fact that the hotel maintains many of the characteristics from its historic past helps with the special ambience.
The property is very close to the cricket ground and an easy walk into Chester-le-Street. What's more, Newcastle, Durham and Sunderland are a straightforward drive away.
The staff here are excellent. You'll find them to be very helpful and polite and they'll be happy to help you out with any problems you might have.
The bar prices at Lumley Castle might make your eyes water. Drinks are rather expensive, so be sure to take that into consideration when budgeting for your stay.
It can get rather busy here, particularly on weekends, so sometimes breakfast can be a slightly longer process than you might like, as staff rush around trying to serve everyone. Options on the breakfast menu are occasionally unavailable as well.
