The hotel is surrounded by greenery, with 17 acres of private grounds and rolling hills of the Welsh countryside. Ducks and chickens roam freely and there are some wonderful plants and mature trees providing an extremely picturesque backdrop. Guests thoroughly enjoyed spending time in the gardens as well as taking in the views from their guest rooms.
Many guests were pleased with the overall decor of their rooms as well as the amenities provided. The furniture and upholstery has been described as tasteful and of high quality whilst the added extras such as complimentary sherry and fresh flowers were also greatly appreciated.
The food served at the hotel including the breakfasts has been described as very tasty and fresh by the majority of the guests. Most of the ingredients are obtained locally such as free-range chickens and ducks which can be spotted on the hotel’s grounds. Apart from the great flavours, guests also complimented the wonderful presentation of the food.
Much to the disappointment of many guests, there are no tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms although the hotel does offer room service at a cost. Guests felt that the lack of a hospitality tray wasn’t in keeping with the hotel’s 4-star rating.
Guests who wanted to connect to the internet from their rooms were unable to do so due to the very low and intermittent Wi-Fi signal. Many reported that they were only able to connect near the reception area.
There is no lift on the premises which inconvenienced guests whose rooms were on the higher floors. Some guests found it difficult climbing the stairs with their luggage as no assistance was offered.
