Guests simply couldn't write enough good things about the host, Geoff. He was said to be exceptionally welcoming and solicitous. Nothing seemed like too much trouble for him, and guests clearly had great confidence that anything brought up to him and left in his hands would be properly taken care of.
Again and again guests mentioned how beautiful the house was. It was a relatively ordinary Victorian, but was said to be exceptionally well maintained, inside and out, with the furniture and décor being of the very highest quality.
Guests couldn't stop raving about the breakfast. Though it was a fairly standard English/Continental combination, guests said it was prepared to perfection and well presented as well. Singled out for praise was the bread, which was said to be home baked and delicious.
Firstly, it must be stated that it was extraordinarily difficult to find anything negative written about Lantern House. The reviews were almost universally positive. One small point a few guests mentioned was that there wasn't enough off-street parking for all guests. The hosts had local parking permits so guest could park on the same street, so it was too much of an issue.
While this didn't really bother many, it was pointed out that at least one bedroom has a private bathroom, but it is across the hallway, rather than en-suite.
The B&B is on a busy main road and the bedroom that faces the road was said to get a bit of noise from the cars passing by that could disturb light sleepers.
