Situated in a fantastic position, mere steps from one of the nation’s most highly rated beaches, La Avenida Inn offers fully updated motel-style accommodation convenient for both the beach and the city. The rooms at La Avenida are extra-spacious, with light decor only adding to the sense of space. Each room features air conditioning, TV with extended cable channels (including HBO), ipod dock, free Wi-Fi, work desk and telephone. La Avenida’s central feature is its terrific garden courtyard, with lush garden and pool deck. There is also ample parking available. A basic breakfast of pastries and hot drinks are available every morning, but there are some especially highly rated restaurants in the surrounding streets. La Avenida is just steps from Coronado Beach, one of the most highly rated in the country. While a world away in spirit, downtown San Diego is just five miles drive from the hotel.
Aside from the staff, it was La Avenida's location that most impressed the guests. The proximity to Coronado Beach was what they most enjoyed, but the village, with its restaurants and other amenities were also mentioned, as was the proximity to downtown San Diego.
Considering the amazing location near Coronado Beach, many guests felt the room-rate was very reasonable and that they received great value for money, saying that other accommodation in the area was substantially more expensive.
The fantastic staff were perhaps mentioned even more often that the awesome location. Guests felt that the staff were incredibly friendly, and that they went far out of their way to help their guests when required.
While there were one or two compliments, most didn't think much of the breakfast offered, which consisted of some pastries and a hot beverage. Most would have liked a bit more variety.
While not mentioned often, a few guests pointed out that the TV's in the rooms were of the older cathode ray type. They felt that it was time for the hotel to update to the larger and clearer flat screens.
Unfortunately, like at many other hotels, it seems the Wi-Fi at La Avenida could be improved. A number if guests mentioned that it really wasn't very good, with the connection being dropped repeatedly, or it simply not being fast enough for their purposes. It seemed to generate a good deal of frustration.
