Eight simple rooms from twin to double deluxe have either private or shared bathrooms. There is free Wi-Fi and a radio alarm clock in each room. The hotel staff speaks both Dutch and English. Basic but clean rooms are a good deal.

Rooms at Café Internationaal have clean, simple bedding and modest furnishings.

Not only is the surrounding area hopping with nightlife and sights, but the tram at Dam Square will take you to Museum Square and the Van Gogh Museum. For those travelling on, the Central Station couldn't be closer.

The bar below offers local and international beers, and games can be watched on the large screen TV. The décor is dark and cosy, with hints of the bar's past hung up on the walls.

Sinks are found in the sleeping area.

Oddly, the sinks are not found in the bathroom, but the sleeping area. It is possible a sink might end up next to your pillow.

No lift and steep stairs.

There is no lift available in the old building. Stairs can be a bit steep as well making bringing up luggage dangerous.

Ear plugs are supplied for a reason.

People don't stay in this section of Amsterdam to go to bed early, so be warned. Ear plugs are provided by the staff, and with a bar right downstairs, you just might need them.
