Highcliffe House is a luxury, adult-only Bed and Breakfast set in a Victorian house, located in Exmoor National Park, less than one mile from Lynmouth’s town centre. Individually-styled rooms boast romantic decor and en suite facilities. Flat screen TV with DVD player, hairdryer, clock radio, iPod dock and tea/coffee facilities are standard. All rooms have gorgeous views and antique beds. Highcliffe House offers free on-site parking. Bar/Lounge is a plus. Afternoon tea is served upon arrival. Although this B& B serves breakfast and has a bar for guests, there is no restaurant or public bar on premises. The Village Inn Pub, located nearby, offers traditional British fare and a full service bar. Highcliffe House boasts a marvellous location. Set in the confines of the beautiful Exmoor National Park, the views go on forever and it's quiet and relaxing. But this property is located less than one mile from the centre of Lynmouth, where you'll find dozens of restaurants, shops, bars and many must-see attractions.
The spotlessly clean guest rooms are well appointed and spacious. Besides the amenities you'd expect to find, you also are treated to fluffy dressing gowns, luxurious toiletries and an iPod docking station. Add to that the comfortable beds made up with crisp, white sheets and lots of large fluffy towels and you have the makings of a relaxing stay.
Guests rave about the breakfast at this B&B. The ingredients are fresh and locally sourced, the homemade marmalade is a real treat and the selections are plentiful and absolutely scrumptious.
Some guests spoke of the owners of this B&B being a bit intrusive. Although they seem to mean well, they give fire drill instructions upon arrival and seem overly anxious to please those staying with them. Many also find this charming so it really depends on how much privacy you require.
There is no lift here. This could prove problematic for those with low mobility or lots of luggage in tow. The hill leading up to the house is also rather steep.
