Guests have enjoyed the location of this hotel. It’s an obvious choice if you’re visiting someone at California State University although other highlights include nearby outlet shopping and dining and the hotel’s proximity to downtown San Diego.

Although some guests report that they have experienced a better quality of rooms at other Hampton properties, the general opinion of the accommodation here is fairly good. Cleanliness is typically quite high and guests have appreciated the choice of included amenities.

Aside from the obvious plus point that breakfast here is free, guests tend to describe the buffet as well stocked and as offering plenty of choice for all appetites. The staff is quick to refill items as they run out and guests have found the breakfast area clean and inviting.

A number of past guests have encountered problems when trying to park at this San Marcos hotel. Spaces don’t seem to be limited but it seems that people often park inconsiderately, sometimes taking up two or three spots. This seems to be something that the hotel could manage better.

Although the rooms are generally found to be of a reasonable standard, guests do report examples of poor maintenance. Problems include rust patches on the baths, broken locks, and excessive wear and tear on the furniture.

Although few guests mention any traffic noise, there do appear to be regular problems with internal noise. The hotel’s proximity to the university means that there are lots of young people staying at the property. As one guest points out, these guests have wildly different schedules to those traveling on business or as a family group.
