Guests liked this hotel's excellent town centre location. It was within easy walking distance of shopping, dining options, parks, springs, arts venues and Great Malvern railway station. Drivers welcomed the proximity of the A449, M5 and M50 for uncomplicated access to area attractions, sports venues and beauty spots in the rolling Worcestershire countryside. Outdoors enthusiasts loved being at the foot of the Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty for walking, mountain-biking, horse-riding and superb views of England and Wales.

This family-run hotel reportedly fostered a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere and was staffed by pleasant and helpful personnel. Visitors appreciated the local beers on tap at the well-stocked bar. Diners gave the delicious and reasonably-priced meals the thumbs-up as well as the free breakfast buffet, offering hot items, cereals, juices and fruit.

The comfortable rooms at this revamped Victorian hotel were said to be spacious and benefited from generously-sized en suite bathrooms plus cosy beds. There was praise for the pleasant countryside views from some rooms.

Some critics felt the decor was a little dated in certain rooms or that there was tired-looking furniture. Cleanliness standards came in for occasional criticism with reports of bathrooms that could have been more comprehensively cleaned or musty smells in some parts of the premises.

The glow of emergency lighting bothered light sleepers in some rooms as did nuisance noise from adjacent rooms and corridors from time to time.

The limited availability of parking spaces on-site meant that during busy periods some motorists had to use public parking, which was a short walk away. This wasn't always ideal for those with limited mobility or lots of luggage to carry.
