Those who stayed at Gillis Centre were impressed to find lovely gardens on site, next to a historic chapel. On top of this, the rooms here were considered to be basic, but clean, warm and comfortable; guests thought they were reasonably priced; and people were also happy to have plenty of hot drink provisions and a kettle to bolster against chilly Edinburgh days.
Guests said that the kind and welcoming service they received from staff was very nice. On top of this, the simple but tasty continental fare served for breakfast, including homemade bread and scones, was thought to offer exactly what was needed and was well priced.
Although the guesthouse is apparently found in a rather a quiet area, guests said that the bus stop outside gives handy access to Edinburgh city centre, and that they also found themselves within a short walk of the shops and restaurants at Morningside and Bruntsfield.
A small number of those who stayed at Gillis Centre mentioned that the Wi-Fi does not work so well in the rooms, but even if this is the case, it is better in public areas. Also keep in mind that there are reportedly no TVs or clocks in their rooms either.
