The Funk House is a well-equipped hostel that offers a complimentary breakfast and free Wi-Fi access. With a mixture of dormitories and private rooms, the accommodation is just a five-minute walk from Kings Cross Station. The private rooms at the Funk House all come equipped with a refrigerator, work desk and television. For guests staying in dormitories, they each benefit from a large locker and a bed with double power sockets. For socialising, the motel features a TV room and rooftop area. Additional facilities include a laundry room and luggage storage. A continental breakfast consisting of toast, cereal and spreads is served every morning by the accommodation. A guest kitchen is also provided, while free tea and coffee is available throughout the day. The Australian Museum, Art Gallery of New South Wales and St Mary’s Cathedral can all be reached in 20 minutes or less on foot from the hostel.
With various attractions, bars, restaurants and stores all within comfortable walking distance, the hostel's location was popular with most previous guests. Furthermore, and due to the Kings Cross Station being a short five-minute walk, getting around was made all the more easier.
For those that used the recreational spaces, they were generally appreciated by former visitors that stayed at the accommodation. The TV room was described as an inviting space to relax, whilst the rooftop area was a nice place to grab a drink and interact with others.
The majority of past guests were left pleased when it came to the staff members representing the hostel. The service supplied by the staff was regarded as helpful and friendly in general.
Whilst the rooms were generally well-maintained other than reports of pungent smells, the cleanliness standards of the accommodation's public facilities was routinely criticised by former visitors. In particular, the hygiene of the shared bathrooms and kitchen area were often lambasted.
