This is student accommodation so, don't expect ‘top end' accommodation. Students, though, live quite nicely, thank you, in clean and spacious apartments. Everything is very clean and bedding and towels are immaculate.

There's no noise problem from other guests - maybe different when students are here! - and the members of staff on duty are very friendly and caring.

It's very convenient for Festival attractions and for access to areas including Grassmarket, Cowgate and Princes Street. Because of the student accommodation requirements, you'll only get in here during the months of June, July and August.

They've got an imaginative view on what comprises a ‘double' bed. Beds here are very narrow and more like a large ‘single'. It's not very comfortable either. They may like, also, to enlarge on their description of the ‘luxury' accommodation. It's basic, affordable and good value in this attractive area of the city; but ‘luxury' … it ain't!

The provision of some basics wouldn't go amiss. Maybe they've just been missed out during the cleaning process, but some towels, a rubbish bin and toiletries are noticeably lacking. Not missed out but just not included, are bedside lights. It just comes down to their own ‘luxury' self-description. They really need to review this, or up their game.

Cleaning standards seem to vary. Some say that their room hasn't been cleaned properly since the last student went on an extended vacation; that facilities are minimal and that the fridge hasn't been opened since that student left. These folk can be forgiven for describing accommodation as expensive student ‘digs'.
