The guest house's rooms were highly rated overall by past visitors. Along with the cleanliness being reportedly immaculate, the rooms are often described as well-appointed and containing comfortable furnishings.

Rave reviews have been posted by many previous guests when it came to the breakfast served by the Emerald Guest House. Not only is there a varied selection to choose from, but the quality of the breakfast is also regularly considered to be at a very high standard.

Whilst it is in close proximity to attractions such as Gilmerton Cove and Craigmillar Castle, the Emerald Guest House is not ideal for visiting Edinburgh city centre - a sentiment shared by various former visitors. For example, it is estimated to take at least 15 minutes to reach the city centre by car.

Based on the feedback of previous guests, the guest house has proved inadequate on occasion when it came to parking. Although a driveway is provided for parking, the amount of spaces available is said to be limited.
