The carpeted rooms are well furnished and decorated and have all the amenities you’ll need for a good stay. They feature minbars and coffee makers, as well as cable TV and free Wi-Fi to enable you to stay informed, entertained and connected. The hotel’s star amenity is undoubtedly the wonderful indoor pool and hot tub, but there is also an extensive fitness center where guests can continue with their exercise program uninterrupted. Business travelers have a dedicated center were they can put the finishing touches to that important presentation. McKnight’s Bar & Grill serves classic American fare in a cozy environment. Both breakfast and dinner is available. Located on the eastern outskirts of the city, downtown St. Paul is approximately 4.5 miles away. DoubleTree by Hilton St. Paul East offers a free shuttle to the center.
One of the first things guests brought up in their reviews was that the hotel’s staff acted very professionally. They were particularly impressed with how polite they were, and also the lengths they would go to when helping guests to resolve an issue.
A number of the business visitors had appointments at 3M’s corporate headquarters. Guests found the hotel convenient when headed there, since it was just a mile away.
Again and again guests would mention that they could find no problems related to cleanliness in their rooms. They felt that housekeeping did a good job getting the room clean before they arrived and continued to keep it in tip top shape.
Guests had a couple of problems with these two amenities. For many, the pool was not sufficiently heated to be able to really enjoy it, especially in the colder months. Guests also didn’t like that boisterous kids were not told to calm down by staff and that the jets on the hot tub would often not work.
Guests definitely did not start their day off well. Firstly, many expected breakfast to be included in the room rate, as it is in many similar hotels. It is not included here, but what seemed to upset them most was that even after paying they received what they regarded as a sub-standard meal.
This was perhaps the most common complaint. Guests believed that the rooms had not been renovated for quite some time, and desperately needed a full makeover now if the hotel was going to remain competitive in the future.
