Rooms in this Texas hotel are impressively clean and matched by enticingly well-laundered bed linen and that essential … comfortable bed. The ceiling fan really helps to keep the air flow going and the temperature at a comfortable level. It’s difficult to resist the Jacuzzi in the bathroom – big enough for two! In the communal areas, the pool is nice and clean. Strange that they don’t supply towels … but it's a reasonable policy within the tariff charged.

Breakfast is one of a number of pleasant surprises here. Not only is it free, but the choices and quality are good. The all-day availability of tea and coffee in the lobby is another impressive feature.

Members of staff are very helpful and friendly, starting with the shuttle driver who meets you at the airport. He gives a very positive first impression; one that is followed through by all staff members in the hotel. Front desk personnel are great and cleaning is done unobtrusively, yet very thoroughly.

The sofa bed mattress is stained and grotty. One of the few blemishes in this hotel.

Lighting is dipped low in the communal areas. No doubt the intention is to give a relaxed feel to the place. In practice, though, it just feels dark and not very inviting.

It’s good that they’ve got an elevator, but not so good when the doors take so long to open. This makes you feel as if you are going to be trapped inside; just like in a disaster movie.
