Situated close to the city’s best music, nightlife and dining, City Perth Backpackers Hostel is a new property offering budget accommodation in a friendly environment. The private rooms and dorms are quite basic in terms of décor and furniture. The private rooms feature alarm clocks, a chest of draws and free Wi-Fi. The dorms feature bunk beds and private lockers (guests need their own lock). Guests have the full use of a stainless steel industrial-style kitchen, where they can prepare their own meals and snacks. There’s also a TV lounge where guests can relax and socialise and laundry facilities for those who have been on the road for a while. Nearby James Street has a good selection of restaurants and bars, with Japanese cuisine being especially well represented. Sakura Saki comes highly recommended. James Street is also known for its nightclubs, but those in town for big acts will probably be heading to the Perth Arena, just across the road from City Perth Backpackers Hostel.
