Concord Hotel (Sydney, Australia)

Rooms are comfortable, everyone is very friendly and the value for money is mind-bogglingly good.

The Bistro food is super value; well prepared and presented. The bar is friendly and everything is so reasonably priced.

Concord West Station is next door, so there's easy access to city attractions, many of which are surprisingly close to the hotel.

This is very much a social centre and time spent in the bar and bistro is good fun. There is a consequent noise problem too, particularly on Friday and Saturday nights. Noise is worse in the early hours, after closing time ... when staff begins clearing up. Noise in the room comes from the very loud, old and pretty ineffective air conditioning unit. This unit is on the window and behind the blind. If you close the blind, there's no benefit at all from the air con!

Rooms are small … cramped! Even the TV is small. If they are accommodating overnight guests, they really should at least make an attempt at providing breakfast. Currently, there's nothing/ ‘zilch'! There is a shared kitchen but it's so basic, it's not worth the bother. Cafes and a milk bar are close by and Platform 82 is a popular breakfast haunt - so all is not lost.

The shared bathroom is very basic and nowadays, folk just don't expect to share these facilities. That said, the water in the shower is piping hot and the water pressure is excellent.
