Taormina-Giardini Station (Giardini-Naxos, Italy)

Järnvägsstationen Taormina-Giardini invigdes den 12 december 1866 som ett led i ett projekt att knyta samman norra och södra Sicilien. Själva sationsbyggnaden är ganska klassisk i något som kallas “liberty”-stil, och inredningen går i mörka träslag på sicilianskt manér. Fram till 1980-talet var stationen mycket vältrafikerad på grund av turismen, men när flygplatsen Fontanarossa i Catania öppnade så minskade det antalet tågresenärer till Sicilien. För dem som är intresserade av Gudfadern-filmerna är denna station förmodligen välkänd, då flera scener i dessa filmer har spelats in här. Idag trafikeras stationen av linjen Messina - Siracusa (med stopp i Catania bland annat) och nattågen norrut mot Rom. I anslutning till stationen finns buss- och taxihållplats och inne på stationen finns cafe och tidningskiosk, samt bemannad biljettlucka såväl som biljettmaskiner.
