Provinssirock (Seinäjoki, Finland)

Provinssirock is one of the biggest rock festivals in Finland. It is held every year in the middle of June in the city of Seinäjoki in western Finland. The festival lasts for three days starting on friday and ending on sunday - in 2008 the festival had over 75 000 visitors within these three days. The very first Provinssirock was held in 1978 and within these 30 years the festival has expanded dramatically. In 2009 the biggest international bands were for example Volbeat (DEN), Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds (AUS), Manovar (US) and Opeth (SWE). Added to these, the most popular finnish bands performed at the festival. The city of Seinäjoki is easy to reach from southern Finland. There are train connections from Helsinki and Seinäjoki airport is also nearby. Buses take visitors from the festival area to the city center and back every 15 to 20 minutes.
