Metropolitan Cathedral of Brasilia (Brasília, Brazil)

Metropolitan Cathedral of Brasilia was designed by Oscar Niemeyer and was completed in 1960. It consists of a concrete-framed structure that is hyperboloid in form. Standing near the entrance are four large statues known as the Four Evangelists. The cathedral lies mostly underground and has sixteen curved columns and a stained glass interior. The Cathedral lies near the intersection with the Central Bus Station and is situated diagonally opposite the Law Courts. Visiting times are: Monday 8.00 am till 5.00 pm; Tuesday to Friday 8.00 am till 6.00 pm; Saturday 8.00 am till 5.00 pm and Sunday 8.00 am till 6.00 pm. The Cathedral is open everyday for public visitation, except during Mass. Mass times are: from Tuesday to Friday at 12:15 p.m. and 6:15 p.m.; Saturday at 5:00 p.m.; Sunday at 8:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
