Great Market Hall (Budapest, Hungary)

Központi vásárcsarnok translates into English as the Central Market and was built in 1897 to a design by Sam Pecze. It was declared a monument in 1977 and restored in 1994. The front of the building is in a neo-gothic style and has an iron roof. It has three levels and is set out in rows of stalls .The basement sells fish, pickles and imported Asian spices. The ground floor has fresh produce cheeses ,meats, flowers and Hungarian specialities and the upper floor has more tourist merchandise as well as cafes and snack bar. Opening times are: Monday 6am -5pm Tuesday to Friday 6am -6pm Saturday 6am-2pm Closed on a Sunday.
