Begijnhof (Turnhout, Belgium)

This beguinage was founded in the 13th century on the site of a castle. It includes a baroque church built in the year 1665 and the Chapel of the Holy Face (Heilig Aanschijn) built in the late 19th century. The houses are now a residence for old people while the former infirmary hosts a Museum of beguine culture. It was listed, together with other 12 Flemish beguinages, as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the year 1998.
