The quarry pits were used by pre-Columbian Indians for thousands of years as a source of dolomite to fashion their tools and arrowheads. The park spans 1,371 acres and can only be viewed by guided tours which are presented twice daily from Memorial Day to Labor Day and have a duration of approximately 2 hours. Pre-reservation of tours out of season is an option.
