Lighthouse View Motel (Mackinaw City, USA)

This is a quaint, tasteful and tidy spot on North Huron Avenue with perfect views (especially from the second floor) of the Mackinac Bridge.  The lighthouse and Lakeshore Park, as well as many restaurants and shops, are just a stroll away. Pet-friendly, quiet and very affordable. There's a heated indoor pool and hot tub, porch swings and outdoor tables for eating or sipping an evening beer while enjoying the view.  Check-in involves completing a notecard-sized information form and receiving an actual key - not a keycard.  Return it to the reception box upon departure.  Parking is free and somewhat limited; ask the staff if you need help with it.  There's no breakfast served on-site, but you'll get a 20% discount for a nearby cafe.  The in-room coffee is said to be quite tasty.

The views of the bridge from most rooms are spectacular, within a natural framework of surrounding trees.  Not the most trendy decor, but it's perfectly clean and functional.  Excellent showers and Jacuzzi tubs. Wi-Fi works well in most areas. Radios with several speakers throughout some units allow for music to be optimally enjoyed while bathing or in the hot tub.

The proprietors are very friendly and on-site most of the time, and can be relied upon for helpful and attentive service.

Mixed reviews on the Wi-Fi as some claimed perfection and others reported it was very slow; it may depend on your location in the building.

Most didn't care about the dated decor, but others felt it was high time for a renovation.

Some found they could hear every footstep that passed by their door and every voice on the other side of the walls.
