There is also an elegant lounge, an ideal place to socialise over a drink. Kaylon is in an unbelievably central position. The Blue Mosque is 0.7 miles away, the Hagia Sophia 0.6 miles and the absolutely not to be missed Grand Bazaar just 1.2 miles.
The central position, close to many of Istanbul's star attractions was what guests most appreciated about the Kaylon. They liked that the two big mosques were close by, and the very interesting Grand Bazaar was also within walking distance.
There are rooms facing both the front and back, and guests were unanimous in their insistence that the front facing rooms were worth the small extra price. The views over the Marmara Sea were described as lovely, and really brought home the fact that they were in Istanbul.
While guests found the in-house restaurant to be acceptable, they seemed keener on the many great restaurants in the streets surrounding the hotel. There were said to be a variety of cuisines available, and many great options to choose from.
A surprising number of guests pointed out that there was no pool on site. In fact, they mentioned that there were very few common amenities at all. They felt that the hotel was fine for business, but lacked the leisure amenities they expected when going on holiday.
While there were also positive comments made about the staff, there were perhaps too many negative ones to ignore. Several guests found the staff to be, if not exactly rude, just too disinterested to really be able to offer great customer service.
While not a general complaint, a few guests did report that their room was too small for comfort - pretty much only good for sleeping and bathing. It seems that rooms sold in the same class may differ substantially in size.
