Hotel Vendange Carmel Inn & Suites (Carmel-by-the-Sea, USA)

The surroundings are just what is needed; very quiet and attractive. The garden is beautiful and rooms are well furnished, decorated and welcoming. It's all in keeping with the rest of this 'olde worlde' inn.

That's the wine and cheese reception! Another indication of the hospitality on offer here. Just turn off the 17 Mile Drive, 'turn off' again .. relax and enjoy a convivial time in the company of others.

Hosts are very accommodating, welcoming and friendly. This extends into the atmosphere they have created in the property itself. It is a very relaxing setting.

The location next to a busy road can be a disadvantage, particularly in the case of light sleepers. Interior walls are thin too so that doesn't help.

There's no ventilation in the bathroom which leads to a build up of steam and damp. With no air conditioning, it can get very oppressive in warmer weather.

Rooms are very small. There aren't as many amenities here as you might have been led to expect and if you go for the self-catering accommodation, utensils are few and far between. Going into Carmel? Walking isn't an option; it's too far away. Parking there is a nightmare! (It's a bit tight here too.) Low water pressure results in a constantly dribbling shower. Breakfast is a bit 'samey'. OK, but nothing special .. and there is no evening dinner on offer. Room storage space is minimal. There's no coffee making facility in the room.
