Hotel Thunderbird Inn (Savannah, USA)

There's no deigning that the main draw for most guests was the 1960's themed décor. The furnishings and decorations are retro-style, but all new and the rooms have all the modern conveniences. Previous guests appreciated the little throw back touches like the complimentary Moon Pies and RC Cola, and the neon sign out front.

Thunderbird Inn is nestled right in the heart of Savannah's famous historic district. Previous guests loved being so close to so many excellent shops, restaurants, and attractions such as the Old Town Trolley Tours. It's also near several annual events, like the Weiner Dog Races in October.

Guests traveling with four-legged companions were thrilled to find that the Thunderbird treated their dog better than some hotels treat human guests. They offer an enclosed dog run for pets to play in. In the rooms they provide food and water bowls and pet beds. Gourmet treats and waste bags can be found in the lobby, where the staff are always to provide dogs with bottled water.

Though parking fees around Savannah are common, many travelers felt that as guests at the Thunderbird Inn they should not have to pay to park there. Several people also complained that in addition to the daily fee, parking regulations are quite strict, with only one car allowed per room and a requirement to move right after check out. They also felt that the spaces were rather small.

Several reviews complained about the noise from the parking lot and the nearby street. They expressed that the walls of the motel are exceptionally thin, and they were woken up by other travelers heading out early.

While the Wi-Fi is free, many guests reported that it is terribly unreliable.
