Occupying a 19th century red brick building, The Swope Manor offers elegant accommodation in close proximity to many of Gettysburg’s popular attractions and landmarks. The individually decorated rooms feature modern amenities such as flat-screen televisions, air-conditioning, ironing equipment and clock radios. Suites add separate sitting areas and some have minifridges. Elegant four-poster beds are to be found in upgraded rooms whilst all the en-suites have free Wi-Fi access. Guests staying at The Swope Manor can relax in the comfortable lounge or soak up the rays in the private courtyard. The guesthouse also offers a wide range of specialist packages. Freshly prepared breakfasts are available on-site whilst guests can enjoy their lunch and evening meals at some of the local cafes and restaurants such as Dobbin House Tavern and Blue & Gray Bar & Grill. Gettysburg National Military Park and Gettysburg Museum of Hisory are both within two miles of the guest house.
Guests were pleased to report that they did not need to rely on their cars during their stay as many of the popular attractions in Gettysburg were within walking distance of their accommodation. Many appreciated being a short stroll away from Lincoln Square with its numerous shops, bars and restaurants.
The building dates back to the 19th century and has retained many of its original period features much to the delight of those who stayed here. Guests appreciated the open fireplaces and wooden floors yet found it handy having all the necessary mod-cons such as flat screen televisions and up-to-date bathroom fixtures and fittings.
During finer weather many enjoyed being out on the deck and in the courtyard which has plenty of chairs and tables as well as a cosy fire pit. Relaxing in the elegant library and leafing through the numerous history books was said to be the highlight of the stay for many.
The inn overlooks quite a busy road and guests whose rooms were located at the front of the property said that they were able to traffic noise which quite a few described as being rather intrusive.
Guests found it inconvenient being given pre-determined breakfasts times which some found either too early or too late. Quite a few said they would have preferred more flexibility when it came to the breakfast hours.
There are no parking spaces outside the inn which meant that guests had to leave their cars in the car park a few streets away. Many said that the spaces at the garage would fill up quickly meaning that they had to look for alternative places.
