Hotel The Cleveland House (Newport, USA)

This character bed and breakfast experience is located beautifully in Newport, very much a place in which traditionalists who enjoy character properties will like to stay. The house is not far from the ocean, and carries its 300 years well.

The staff here are very friendly, and the check-in is quick and efficient. Guests feel welcome, and the place benefits from a family atmosphere; the cooked breakfast was enjoyable, and described as being very tasty. The guest rooms are attractive and well cleaned. Staff are helpful with luggage, on the "character stairs".

Guests find this a very good value place to stay in this expensive part of the world, it is well described as being quintessentially New England colonial.

Guests here were not happy that they were not told that breakfast was being served in a different location during their stay. One of the guest rooms was described as being very small, and hence not good value, this is no doubt the price one pays for staying in a character property. Importantly it must be mentioned that the stairs are steep, worth bearing in mind by mature guests.

The guest room in this Victorian house was described by one guest as being dated! However this Victorian property would benefit from a new update, the carpet was stained, and in the Jacuzzi bath there were a number of buttons missing, although the bath was functional.

The television in one bedroom was not working, and one guest had the impression that the staff were little uninterested. The lack of public rooms on the ground floor was regretted by some. Parking is slightly tight, and the stairs creaky!
