The Boars Head is a four star seventeenth century old coaching house in Bishops Castle. There are three rooms available which are separate from the main building. They can accommodate up to eight people and benefit from TV/DVD/radio, tea and coffee and ipod docking stations. The Inn has a fully stocked bar area and restaurant where breakfast is served at an additional charge. There is plenty of parking and Wi-Fi is available. The restaurant serves food all day offering traditional pub grub or guests can try local restaurants such as the Castle Hotel for fine dining, or the Three Tuns Inn with its own brewery right next door. Bishops Gate has a fascinating history behind it and offers plenty to do such as visit Bury Ditches one of the oldest forts in Britain, Stokesay Castle eight miles away or try fishing and walking in the local area.
The rooms are adjacent to the actual pub itself giving guests lots of privacy. They are cottages with traditional features still in tact with exposed beams and stable doors. Previous guests really rate the rooms as they are well decorated and spacious.
The staff within the restaurant and bar are very friendly making guests feel at home when they arrive. They give a feeling of being a regular and nothing is too much trouble.
Bishops castle is a market town set in Shropshire where many people visit throughout the year. Previous guests of the hotel have stated they will no doubt be returning as the location is perfect and the accommodation very good quality.
The reviews about the food served here are very good however the waiting time ruins this somewhat as guests have had to wait so long. The meals have arrived separately on occasion so people are unable to eat together.
The previous reviews about the booking issues which crop up in this hotel are over the phone as well as when people arrive. Those who have booked well in advance for special occasions have had phone calls closer to the time to cancel as they are double booked. No apology or compensation is offered.
The owner of the establishment has unfortunately received negative reviews due to the way he has spoken to people either on the phone, on reception or in the bar area. Some people have left due to this reason and will not return as he has been so rude.
