Many praise the amazing Scottish breakfast served at The Auld Kirk. It's amply portioned, with fresh and local ingredients, and expertly prepared. Starting the day with the meal here complements the rest of the lovely charm, and is another reason to stay here.
positive:
Beautiful and cosy rooms with great scenic views.
Rich fabrics and colours blend with classic furniture, and the bathrooms are done in modern and chic décor. The common areas combine a bit of bold colour with traditional designs, all inviting you to put your feet up and relax and enjoy the ambiance. Throughout the inn, there are lovely views of Royal Deeside.
positive:
Owners and staff are an absolute joy to be around.
It's very clear that the owners and staff truly adore the inn. They love sharing stories about the bed and breakfast, as well as the region, and are always eager provide you with tips and ideas.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Thin walls make conversations easily audible.
Loud guests may not be aware of how easily they can be overheard. Keep that in mind when trying to be cognisant of your own noise levels, and bring ear plugs.
negative:
Feels too remote and quiet for the location.
Remember, you are staying in the Scottish countryside, and thus surrounded by the hills and a national park. Ballater is close by, and does have cafes, shops, historical sites, and other local gems, yet it's not unusual for guests to feel like they're still too removed from livelier scenes.
negative:
Poor Wi-Fi signal can be a bummer for the occasion.
Not surprisingly, the Wi-Fi signal is unreliable. It can be difficult to get and then may be just as hard to maintain. Bear this in mind if you can't access or update anything until you're off of the property.
