Red River and skiing at Angel Fire are just under one-hour away by car. Not only that, it's in a convenient location directly on the main street into town. The highway can be easily accessed and the nearby downtown has the essential needs like shopping, there's a Walmart, and more.
Don't be surprised if you're staying for a few days and housekeeping goes missing. You'll have to track them down to get your roomed cleaned.
You may encounter a stale cigarette smoke smell, hard bed, poor soundproofing, trash strewn around the property, poor Wi-Fi, broken tiles, collapsed roofing, poor lighting, dirty fridge, grimy carpeting, and more. Unfortunately, it seems that the lodge has seen better days and is due for an all-around renovation.
