Hotel Sherwood Residence (Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam)

If you're looking for the best of both worlds - the independence of self-catering along with the comfort of a hotel - this place fits the bill and more. Guests, particularly those with families, love being able to escape back to their own accommodation yet have a wide range of facilities on hand. As well as a lovely swimming pool, there are lots of superb leisure facilities, such as a cinema, golf putting practise, table tennis and a gym. Even the Wi-Fi seems to work well!

Guests find the residence to be ideally situated for getting around. Whilst sights such as Notre Dame Cathedral, the Reunification Palace or War Remnants Museum can easily be reached by foot, you also have the option of taking advantage of the free shuttle bus service. This drops you right into the centre and brings you to the superb Ben Tanh markets.

Guests find the staff on the whole to be extremely friendly and attentive. They treat you with respect and speak excellent English.

Guests are not totally seduced by the onsite restaurant. Complaints range from a limited choice to poor hygiene and upset stomachs. Breakfast isn't included, and those who try it aren't often satisfied with its freshness or selections.

Guests are often left feeling humiliated and offended by the hotel's policy to check their rooms during check-out. They warn that you risk being charged for a missing spoon or broken glass, even if you weren't responsible. Guests find this quite petty with the amount of money they spend to stay there.

Guests often feel that certain rooms or facilities are starting to look dated or beyond their prime. The gym being one prime example.
