Rex Hotel (Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam)

Take a seat at this famed hotel bar, and imagine you are in a bygone era. Known as the place to be for war correspondents and U.S Officers during the Vietnam War, this 24-hour bar gives you a great view of Ho Chi Minh City and a popular pedestrian area below. Despite what some described as exorbitant prices, guests weren't deterred, and loved the open-air atmosphere steeped in history.

With a pillow menu and sumptuous bedding and mattresses, you will be having sweet dreams before you know it. While everyone has a different mattress preference, most found beds to be the perfect firmness, and guests were re-energized for a new day of sightseeing.

Many guests chose the Rex for location, and they weren't disappointed. Across from Ho Chi Minh City Hall, the hotel is also close to other favorites such as Ben Thanh Market and the Notre Dame Cathedral. Wind your way through a pedestrian tourist zone and admire the colonial architecture as you make your way to these and other sights in under ten minutes.

Some guests of the Rex reported encountering kind-hearted staff who were a pleasure to interact with. Unfortunately, others didn't seem as lucky, and were taken aback by impolite staff who could barely make eye contact, let alone crack a smile. It seemed a few ruined the experience for many.

Finicky Wi-Fi meant that guests weren't always able to send emails from their rooms. The business center and reception area seemed to have the strongest signal, causing an inconvenience for guests who had to leave their room to stay connected.

Several guests found themselves requesting a room change after non-smoking accommodation still smelled of smoke. Sometimes the problem came from smokers in the hallway. No matter the source, staff seemed to be hit or miss with resolving smoking-related issues.
