Hotel Shantara Resort Port Douglas - Adults Only Retreat (Port Douglas, Australia)

The hotel is centrally located in the heart of Port Douglas with easy access to restaurants and shops and for many this was the best feature of their stay. Guests also said that the staff at the hotel were extremely helpful and friendly.

On arrival guests commented that their rooms were spotless and cleaned to a very high standard. Guests also said that the beds and pillows were very comfortable, ensuring that they had a good nights sleep at the hotel.

Many travellers who left reviews were allocated a room on the ground floor of the hotel which had direct pool access via a private wooden deck.  These guests commented that it was a highlight of their stay and recommended to future guests to ensure that they request one of the swim-up rooms.

The hotel only offers a daily housekeeping service to guests who specifically request daily cleaning for an additional fee. Guests who stayed here for an extended period of time were annoyed that for the price paid, daily housekeeping was not included.

Guests commented that for the price paid for the rooms that they expected a little more space than what was provided. Some guests described the rooms as tiny and cramped, other guests also said that there was a lack of sound proofing between rooms and they could clearly hear their neighbours.

Guests who were expecting to be able to eat at  the hotel were disappointed that there was no restaurant and no room service, which meant for each meal they had to travel outside of the hotel to purchase a meal.
