The Scarborough Observation Resort is a stone’s throw from the Indian ocean, just outside Perth’s central business district. Rooms are available in a range of configurations from budget rooms with shared facilities to motel rooms, apartments and self-contained villas. All rooms feature a flat-screen TV and DVD player, air-conditioning and superior rooms include a kitchen with mini-refrigerator. The Scarborough Observation Resort has an outdoor swimming pool, an on-site gym and access to Wi-Fi while parking on-site is free to all guests. For guests who self-cater a supermarket is five minutes from the resort and for others guests there are a number of cafes, restaurants and bars a short walk from the property. The on-site restaurant Sunmoon, is open all day. The resort is close to the West Coast Highway. The Perth Zoo is a 30 minute drive and Fremantle is a 40 minute drive away.
Some people commented that the hotel is in a good location only a short walk to the water with some rooms having a good view of the sea. There also a number of supermarkets nearby which is convenient for those who wish to self-cater.
A number of people who spent time down at the pool area commented that they really enjoyed this area of the hotel as it was clean and well managed.
Some people made specific comments in their reviews about the comfy beds and well laundered bed linens which helped them have a pleasant stay, as the got a great nights sleep.
The main complaint from visitors to the resort was that it is not a resort at all and that the pictures on the Website are misleading and do not give a true account of the amenity at the property. Many warned that this accommodation is budget only and the use of the word resort is false advertising, elevating the property above for some what is offered.
A number of previous guests in their reviews were not at all happy that the resort advertised free Wi-Fi only to find that on arrival the property asked for an additional fee for ongoing Wi-Fi access.
Across a number of reviews from previous visitors to the hotel there were several common issues that cropped up including that the kitchen was very dirty, that the noise from the highway was unacceptable, the bathrooms were mouldy and that there were a lot of broken fixtures and dilapidated furniture
