Hotel Riviera Caribe Maya (Playa del Carmen, Mexico)

The hotel is small and quaint, but charming. The staff is friendly and helpful. It's good if you plan on staying longer than a few days as there is a laundromat near the property and stores too. The bed and bathroom are a good size as well.

The hotel manages a small eating place that serves delicious tortillas and burritos. You can relax by the pool and eat or eat in your room. It may take some time until your food is ready; however, it's fresh with good ingredients and the price is reasonable.

The hotel is conveniently located. In five-minutes you are at the beach. The hotel is right across from the ADO bus station and a couple of minutes from the R1 bus path that will take you to the nightlife in Cancun.

You may encounter a strong smell along with unpleasant humidity. The ventilation is very poor in the bathroom, which may be a reason for the intense humidity in the room. The TV is outdated and the Wi-Fi connection is the pits.

There is a bar next to the hotel that plays extremely loud music from sunup to sundown. Asking for the music to be turned down doesn't help much as they just turn it back up after a while. If you are not a hard sleeper, this alone could keep you up all night long.

Some amenities, like the TV, are old. The bathroom could do with a renovation and the walls need a good coat of paint. Furthermore, the Wi-Fi is the pits. They could do a better job with cleaning too. You may find sheets with stains on them and light bulbs that need changing.
