The rooms decorated with artworks of famous Roman monuments proved popular with reviewers, who often described them as clean, comfy, well-maintained and fairly spacious with cosy beds and modern en suite bathrooms. The usually reasonable room rates appealed to budget-minded travellers, many of whom felt their stays represented fair value for money. There was also praise for the pleasant covered garden terrace with seating and the shared kitchen, enabling the preparation of light meals.

Relax Bed & Breakfast reportedly enjoyed a handy central location in a late 19th century Roman townhouse just steps from bus stops and Castro Pretorio, the nearest metro station on line B. In addition, Termini station was a short stroll away offering further bus and metro connections plus mainline trains to Fiumicino Airport. Another bonus was the proximity of many cafes, bars and restaurants. Sightseers appreciated being able to walk to attractions like the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain and Baths of Diocletian.

The friendly and helpful personnel had plenty of local knowledge and fostered a relaxed atmosphere, which made guests feel at home.

The lack of a 24-hour reception posed occasional problems for new arrivals who were delayed and missed the opportunity to check-in during working hours. However, the manager was contactable on a mobile phone out-of-hours.

Critics sometimes said the bathrooms felt cold in chillier weather as they lacked their own heating. However, this rarely proved to be an issue during hot Roman summers.

The continental breakfast was a handy bonus in the mornings. However, it reportedly suited sweet-toothed guests more than those with an appetite for savoury items.
