Perhaps because the hotel is fairly old and on an island that sees plenty of moisture, the rooms tend to exude a musty or damp smell which can be quite off-putting. The hotel is also pet-friendly and caters to smokers, both of which can add to the issues relating to unpleasant odors in some of the rooms.

The hotel features free Wi-Fi which is available in all rooms as well as in public spaces throughout the property. In many cases the signal simply isn't strong enough to support larger volumes of wireless traffic which results in slow service or intermittent connections.

Room décor is quite dated and may not appeal to everyone. Some of the furniture shows age and is falling apart.
